Our Story

Pat and Cindy make up the Mother-Daughter team who author Simply Serve.

Pat raised four girls as a stay-at-home mom.  Her four girls were not only raised in church but became very involved in church activities from early on.  Growing up there was not alot of money but Pat raised the family to always think and do for others.  Share what God has given you and He would bless.

After getting married Cindy's heart was to have children but God had other plans.  God had planned for Cindy to have a ministry that served the needs of the world's orphans.  God knew that He wanted her to focus her maternal instincts on children in need in all four corners of the world.

Being raised by a mother who had a servant's heart, Cindy continued down that path.  God placed a burden on her heart for orphaned children who went to bed at night without the comfort of a mother's love and without the warmth of a blanket and that is when the focus on missions ministry to orphan children began.

For the next ten years, Cindy teamed up with her mom and her grandparents to sew blankets for children in need.  The first group of blankets went to an orphanage in Ecuador and were hand delivered by a mission team.  These blankets were paired with a bag of toiletries and a stuffed animal.  Since that first group of blankets were created over 1000 more have been hand-delivered to children in over 15 to 20 different countries.  The blankets were very simply made with $1.00 a yard child-friendly fabric and were stuffed with a recyled blanket.  All of the stuffed animals that were included in the packages were purchased or donated by thrift stores and were refurbished to "like-new" condition.  Our goal was to make the children's beds bright and colorful and their nights warm.  We also wanted the children to be able to cuddle with a stuffed animal so that they would not feel as lonely at night..

The ministry expanded as needs arose and thousands of other items have been sent to those in need.  Each item have prayer tags attached in the native language of the child and each of the items have been hand delivered by mission teams.  Each of the items also go with the team providing the salvation message.  All of this was done with very little money and very little time.

Pat and Cindy always try to be creative in the projects they are involved with.  Some of those include: dried soup meals for families in need, Easter baskets for homeless children, magazines for senior citizens, puppets for children's workers in small village churches, sewing kits for elderly ladies in Eastern Europe, first aid kits for homeless men, and more.  We have been able to work through several different ministries and have sent needed items to: Romania, Moldova, Kenya, West Bank, China, Honduras, Ecuador, Haiti, Cuba, West Virgina, Atlanta, Portugal, Russia, Peru, Guyana and more.

God has now placed on our heart a need to expand our focus.  We want to pass some of these ideas to you so that you can get your family involved in serving others.
